Bonding of glass partition walls

New possibilities for the design of large-area, structural glass-metal bondings

Glass partition walls reflect well on a modern company, and communicate openness, flexible structures and transparency.

However, glass structures of this type only became viable with the right joining technology: bonding.

Heretofore, mainly silicones, polyurethanes and transparent bonding tapes were used for bonding glass partition walls and frames. The disadvantages of these adhesives are familiar - very long curing times, inadequate UV stability, the color must be adjusted to the substrate etc.

The development of the new acrylate DELO®-PHOTOBOND® PB493 results in new possibilities for the design of large-area glass-metal connections.

The essential advantages:

  • Very high strengths and high tension-equalizing behavior at the same time
  • Transparency and yellowing resistance
  • Light-curing enables a high grade of automation of the bonding process and short cycle times
Change of strength and flexibility of DELO®-PHOTOBOND® PB493 at strong UV radiation

The adhesive bead ends at the edge of the aluminium border. The adhesive nearly vanishes by virtue of its transparency and yellowing stability.
